We're still here

Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. Yesterday was a little rough. The doctor thought she was starting to sound worse instead of better when he rounded on her in the morning so he ordered a chest x-ray. The chest x-ray confirmed that she has pneumonia now. This is where I reached my limit and broke down. How much more can this little one take? How much more can I take? She has been such a trooper through all of this and I know she will make it through this too, but I was hoping that we would get better news. Today she does seem a little better, but its baby steps at this point and thats all we can ask for. They are going to start to ween her off oxygen tomorrow. Hopefully that will go well. Just wanted to keep you all updated. Please keep miss Adri in your prayers.

Thanks so much. We love you all!

RSV sucks

Adri and I are spending some quality time in the St Francis peds unit. We came in on Friday night because she was having trouble breathing and had a terrible cough since Christmas eve. They ran several tests on her Friday night and by Saturday morning, she was diagnosed with RSV. Nothing is more heart breaking then watching your newborn baby lie helplessly in a hospital bed hooked up to machines and IVs. I wish there was something I could do. Her little cry is so pathetic. She barely has the energy to even cry and her throat is really sore so she sounds terrible. Hopefully we have hit the worse part of things and she will start to improve. Please keep her in your prayers. We are praying for a good, solid recovery and that she will do well at home once we leave the hospital.

Baby pictures and update!

Life with 2 has been quite an adjustment! We are doing ok though. Anderson has taken on the big brother roll like a champ. He is pretty much oblivious to Adrianna except for the ocassional point and "baby" comment. My mom has been here and is helping a lot with distracting him while I need to give Adri my attention. This morning he hopped in bed with me just as I finished feeding the baby and the 3 of us snuggled up together. It was so precious! (picture below) Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I hope you enjoyed the pictures from the last post. My cousin was able to update the blog for us while we were in the hospital. Thanks Amanda!

Coming home from the hospital. This was the same outfit I wore when I came home from the hospital. My mom brought Adri her first corsage to wear.

Her name is....

Drumroll please.........

Adrianna Claire

The nurse in charge of filing state birth certificates had to make 3 trips to the room before I could agree to settle on her name. I'm glad I waited b/c I think it is perfect for her personality. Lee likes to call her Addie and I call her Adri. Anderson calls her "deedee" and also just baby. He likes her so far, but its only been 3 hours since he has been awake around her. :)

We are tired and just getting used to life with 2 kids, but feel so blessed to have love and support of our family and friends.

More pics to come, I am off to take a nap!

Welcome to the world, New Baby Leinwetter!

Baby #2 arrived at 12:16am on 12/10/08. She weighed 7 lbs, 5 ozs and was 19 1/2" long.

All present agreed that she is beautiful. She has an adorable dimple.
Proud daddy did a great job delivering his little girl. Great job, Dad!
Mom did an awesome job too! Anderson is hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa Leinwetter awaiting his new sister!

Name to be determined. More to come.

Christmas Party

Lee and I went to his residency Christmas party last night. It was a lot of fun to get dressed up and go out together. We don't get to do that much any more. :) Is that a puffy preggo face or what?? :) More evidence that this baby should come out! (P.S.- Thanks Rick for the bunny ears. Its just like we are in kindergarten again!)

And what better way to get that baby out than shaking your groove thing on the dance floor. Seriously, it is really hard to dance with a huge belly. You just don't move the same way. :)

This is Lee dancing to Kung Fu Fighter. :) He's nuts, but I love this man!

NEVER MIND!!!!!!!!!!!

So I thought this could be the week. At my last appt, I was making good progress, I have had tons of contractions since then, but low and behold, I got checked yesterday and... NO CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing, not even a measly 1 cm or 5%, NOTHING!!! So my enthusiasm has worn down from the progress I had made and now I am just trying to fill my time with things other than baby. I am pretty sure this week isn't it. She just isn't ready I guess. I decided to put up some more Christmas decor, enjoy some one on one time with Anderson at the library, make dinner for a family in my Sunday school class who just had a baby (grrr!), go to the Carter's outlet and find some stuff for Anderson, and just focus on being patient. I told myself last night that everything is God's timing, not mine. I am trying to be thankful for the ability to carry a baby to term, have healthy pregnancies, having a girl and being loved and supported by all my family and friends. Now if I can still be a sour puss after all that I have to be thankful for, then shame on me!

Here are some pics of the bassinet that my mom made for the baby. She actually sewed through her finger while making this. The needle broke off into her hand and she had to go to the ER to get it taken out. OUCH!!!!!!! Also, this is a sign for the hospital room that my sister made.

I am blessed!

CAN'T SLEEP!

Its 5:53. I can't sleep. I haven't been able to sleep since Thanksgiving night. Saturday night I took a phenergen, that helped me sleep a little. Am I nervous, overly tired, worried, I don't know? I do know that I would like some sleep though! I think this is "the" week that baby girl will make her entrance to the world. My parents, Jen and Kurt were in town this weekend and we finalized a list of 3 full names. That was exciting. I wonder which one it will be. Lee wants to wait to see her first. I like that idea too. We also got everything squared away for her arrival. Let's see this weekend we (and by that I mostly mean my mom and dad)- washed and set up swing, replaced the infant seat cover, installed car seat base, bought and set up the new pack-n-play (thanks gma and gpa L), set up her bassinet (pics to come!), (my dad) painted the hall in our house, finished installing bamboo blinds in basement, rearranged a bit so that baby's stuff has a place, picked up around the house, did laundry, finished packing my hospital bag (my mom got me new pjs and slippers!), made some returns/exchanges, fixed odds and ends around the house, discussed Christmas card ideas, thought about decorating for Christmas (but didn't quite get to it) and well that may be all. It was a full weekend, but it was great to have everyone here. I love when my family is together!

Have a great day everyone. Hopefully next post will be baby news! Everyone do the baby dance and keep your fingers crossed for me. :)

ob appt today

I just got back from my OB appointment. The doctor said I was 2cm, 70% effaced, and the baby was VERY low. What's this mean??? Well it means I could have a baby tomorrow or I could have a baby in 3 weeks, so nothing really. The baby kicked the doctor's hand when she set it on my belly to feel for her and we both laughed. The doctor said, "well looks, like you've got a feisty one!" "Yes," I said, "I have a feeling she is going to kick our household up to top speed."

We are traveling to Topeka for Thanksgiving which is 2 hours away so JUST IN CASE, Lee is bringing home some sterile gloves, scissors and stitching string (to tie off the cord) in case we have to have an in car delivery on our way home. :) I am packing lots of blankets and a vinyl table cloth. We don't want our mini to get messy! I figure that being prepared will assure that we will not need any of it.

Enough of the graphic details. This post is clearly for women and other mothers who no longer are grossed out by this kind of talk! :)

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
Lots of Love from the Leinwetters!

Lee and Anderson unveiled

This was a few months ago. Lee and Anderson were going through their nightly routine of bath, books and bed. The monitor happend to be on and I thought their little conversation was so cute so I recorded it. This is what my boys are like when (they think) nobody is watching or listening! :) They are reading Anderson's favorite book, Hello Big Jay. It was a gift from Aunt Susan.

Pumpkin Patch Video

I think I mentioned I would post this a while back. :)

try so hard!

I took an old medicine bottle and put a coin in it to make Anderson his very own noise maker. He watched me put the coin in and then wanted me to open the bottle to get the coin. So I pretended to try to open it and acted like it was too hard. Then I handed back to him and he tried too. It was so cute to watch him try like me that I had to get the video out.

1st hair cut

Anderson's first hair cut was (to say the least) a DISASTER! I made an appointment for him in the late morning which is usually his happy time. I armed myself with candy, lolipops and juice boxes and headed off to the salon. We got there a little early (i know, laura...early...hahaha) and walked around. He was happy as a clam. BUT, as soon as that kid sat in the chair, he started screaming bloody murder. We had him sit in my lap but that didn't help at all. She cut the moppy top and sides pretty well but then came the electric clippers. I don't know why I didn't step in and tell her that I could clip the back on my own. I have done it several times before, but for some reason I just let her do it. Every time she came near the back of his head with the clippers, he would buck back thus making the contact point of the clippers with is head much higher than intended. So one bad swoop lead to another which lead to her trying to even it up and before you knew it we were up to an ear lobe on one side (dumb and dumber style). So I decided that it would look better to be uneven than have both sides up to his earlobes and well folks, here you have it..

PS- I HATE OU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stumbled upon a new blog today!

You all know I can't get enough girly stuff these days. Well today, I found this blog of another crafty mom, and wanted to post this site for all of you to see. I already know some of you who will be ordering as soon as you look at their cute stuff. I want the beanie hat. I saw these at a Holiday Mart for a lot more this past weekend, so take my word for it, prices are good! Check out the site here.

P.S.- I am not just posting this for a free bow. I always like to support other crafty moms! :)

HUGE...

...that would be me. Or rather my stomach! I wish I could describe to you how I feel right now, but really there are no words. I am a waddling disaster full of a 6.5 pound (at least) bucking bronco that insists on getting out of the dark place she is trapped in through my RIBCAGE!!!!!!!!! Seriously, my stomach is like some kind of freak show. At any given moment, you can look down and watch it morph around into different shapes and sizes. Its actually quite entertaining, if its not your stomach. I am just hoping and praying that this little wiggle worm is a lot more content once she is out of the womb. Otherwise, we have a crazy little girl on our hands. Maybe I should name her Whalexika Julatie in honor of my crazy girl friends whom I miss so very much. BTW girls, I am hoping and praying that you were NOT that close to the creepy man at the P Tar in College Station (see wylie's blog if you don't know what i am talking about). Did you bathe in germ x the next day when you realized what you had done??? YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you all went to vote today. Anderson and I headed for the polls at about 10 this morning which was perfect timing. No lines! I would love to say that Anderson was a good little boy at the polls, but that would be a lie. He wanted to run around the room and when I wouldn't let him, he screamed at the top of his lungs to let everyone around know that he was peeved. Luckily his moms day out teacher, Ms. Vicki was there volunteering and she took him out of the room to play. :) Anyway, we made it through the voting process. Go vote if you haven't already!!!! And remember to pray for our next president, no matter who it is!

Halloween 2008

Anderson loved Halloween this year. We went trick-or-treating to our next door neighbors and then joined the Brueggemann crew and went to a trunk or treat in the neighborhood. It was a lot of fun. I will post video later. One of the trunks had a basketball goal set up so you can gues where we spent most of our time. Anderson's favorite thing was putting candy in his pumpkin and eating candy corns from one of our neighbors. Lee and I agree that he was the cutest lion ever!

on the front porch just before our first trick or treat experience.

Mom and her little lion.

Hanging out with Dad at the trunk or treat.

The whole crew! The 3 little pigs (Nicholas, Natalie and Naomi Brueggemann) and Anderson the lion.

Side note... anytime you dress up as a lion in Kansas, you are automatically thought of as the cowardly lion from Wizard of Oz. That was not what we were going for. :)

Raarh!

Anderson will be a lion for halloween this year. Luckily he doesn't mind his costume. We tried to get costume pics at a studio, but that didn't work out so well (it was nap time), so Lee and I took him to a church pumpkin sale and tried to get some pics. Unfortunately, pumpkins happen to look a lot like balls and Anderson was going crazy. He wanted to pick them all up and throw them and just couldn't get over how many balls there were just laying around. It was pretty funny. Here are the best shots we could get. We will try again tomorrow when its the real thing.

Hanging from my basketball goal, ready to go see some pumpkins

Sensory overload. Which one do I grab first?

This is serious business.

He also had his 18 month well child check up 2 weeks ago. He weighed 26lbs 13oz and was 34 inches tall. Needless to say we have a tall little boy on our hands!

In baby news, we have narrowed it down to 2 names. One I like better, one Lee likes better, but we both like eachother's names too so we will just see who gets to pick once she is born. Anderson can say both of the names (even though he says my favorite better which I think means we should pick it!) She feels a lot bigger than Anderson ever did and moves a lot more too. I will be surprised if we make it to our due date, but it would be neat to have her on my dad's bday, so if we do, thats great! I start my every week appointments on Nov 19th. We will know more then and I will be sure to update the blog with any info.

A great weekend!

First of all... I have to gloat a bit about the Texas Tech butt kicking in Lawrence. GO TECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was almost embarrassing to be there and watch KU get there butts handed to them, but I am glad it was a victory for Tech! Tech is undefeated against KU ever since Lee and I met. :) Ok all you KU fans, I'm done bragging!

My mom came in town and helped me get some baby stuff figured out. It was such a relief to feel like I have made some progress towards preparing for #2. We got the baby's crib bedding all figured out, ordered her mattress and picked out some adorable fabric that my mom will use to make her bassinet bedding. The bassinet is a family heirloom on Lee's mom's side of the family and it is so cool. I think this is the 4th or 5th generation to use it. Maybe more than that even. My mom made some really cute bedding for it for Anderson that we thought would be gender nuetral, but now that I am having a girl, we decided that we should make something a little more frilly! I will post pics when it is done. I can't wait to see it all put together. Thanks mom for all the help!!!!!!!!! I love you lots and don't know what I would do without you. :)

Lee went to a costume party on Saturday night. I guess he was Poncho Villa??? Anderson wasn't sure who he was at first but as soon as Lee talked, he smiled and wanted to grab the stache. GROSS!

Talking to Hollie

This morning Anderson and my dear friend Hollie got to talk on the phone. It was so cute that I had to get the video camera out. After the camera was off, we even got him to say her name!

here is another stab at the video. :)

Superman!!!!!!

My mom bought Anderson this adorable Superman PJ set, complete with a cape. We taught him to raise his hands in the air and say "SUPERMAN!" So cute. He has no clue who Superman is or what he is saying but Lee will be sure to teach him all about it some day. Here are some pics of our little Superman who is getting SO SO big.

The future Mr. and Mrs. Brent O'Neill

My dear friend Lindsey got engaged to a wonderful man this past Tuesday and I couldn't be happier. I had been waiting for the "I'm engaged" phone call for a long time and finally got it Tuesday night.

Congrats! You two are an amazing couple and I cannot wait to see what the rest of forever holds for you! LOVE YOU BOTH!!!!!!!!!

Sono today!

I went in for a 4d sono today and it was lots of fun. Our little girl was so sweet. She smiled several times during the sono and we discovered that she likes to suck her toes! It was really neat to see her for the last time until she is born. :) I am in love! We were a little shocked to find out that she already weighs 3 and a half pounds. So I am either having a huge baby (my mom had big babies) or my due date is a little off (I have suspected this all along) . Today the sonographer estimated a delivery date of Dec 1. That fits closer to what I would have guessed, but since it is just at 2 weeks before my latest due date, they won't officially change it. I am a little freaked out b/c this means I only have 8 weeks and 6 days until I am a mother of 2. YIKES!!!!!!! I just worry about being a good mom to both of my kids and keeping my sanity during the first few months (and years). I think the reality of it all is hitting me now and to be perfectly honest, I'M SCARED!!!!!!!! I think with your first, you get more and more excited as your due date approaches b/c you are clueless and have no idea what is about to hit you. But with #2, you are more terrified as you get closer to "d day" b/c you know EXACTLY what is about to hit you. Anyway, here is our sweet baby. Her daddy got to do part of the sono and actually caught the smile! Go dad!

Smiling for dad.

Right side of face.

This was Anderson at 28 weeks. We can't decide if they look alike.

The Cats out of the Bag!

This is a copy of a post from my friend Natalie's blog. I have nothing further to say (except that I promise not to wear mom jeans). For a good laugh, read below.

Title of post- I'll take the one with the captain's chairs and the double sliding doors, please.

So we have a pretty tight knit group of girlfriends from college. And that means a) we can be very blatently honest in our opinions with each other (which we don't tend to hold back) and b) there are no secrets. And if you do have a secret, good luck keeping it. And it's a known fact that some of us are better at keeping secrets than others (I usually fall into the latter category).

While we've all had our turn in the hotseat, poor Laura received the brunt of it this last week. Now this was partially her fault, because she chose the wrong person to tell her dirty little secret to (love you Whit!). You wanna know her secret that she tried very, very hard to keep from us? I'll tell you... no even better, I'll show you:

Yep, SHE BOUGHT A MINIVAN! Then, for some reason, she told this tidbit of information to Whitney who promised to take it to her grave. Completely forgoing that whole grave thing, Whitney promptly hung up and called Alex, and Alex told the rest of us. This resulted in Laura receiving 4 text message simultaniously harassing her about her new ride. Which she responded with "WHO TOLD???"

In her defense, she does have an adorable little boy and a bun in the oven, but STILL! What happened to the days back in college when we swore up and down that no matter what we would NEVER revert to the utter-uncoolness albeit very functional world of minivan ownership?! I guess 1 1/2 kids later, function outweighs coolness. Although knowing Laura (nicknames include Martha Stewart, Barbie Bride, Best Dressed at our high school, etc.) she will no doubt find a way to roll her minivan in style (I doubt she will take the painted on flames approach, but it made for a good visual)

Laura lives in Kansas now, so all the fun-making had to be done via text message/email. My favorite part of the exchange was Whitney (and I quote) "Alex, you little (brat), we were supposed to make fun of her in silence!!!"

We love you Laura!!! And your minivan, too!! Just promise us you will stay away from the mom jeans, okay?!?

A great trip to Colorado!!!!!

We went to Colorado last week for a much needed vacation. We met up with Lee's parent's in Vail for the first few days and then headed to Dillon for a retreat with Lee's residency program. We had lots of fun. Here are some highlights from the trip.

5:30am- leaving home. We thought we would get up and leave early so that Anderson could finish sleeping in the car. Does this look like a sleeping kid to you???

Our friends let us borrow their back pack kid carrier. We LOVED it and so did Anderson. Thanks KC!!!!!!!!!!!

Family shot along the stream in Lionshead.

All tuckered out. This hiking stuff can wear you out, you know?

CO trip pics

A trip on the gondola.

Hmm... I kind of like this. :)

Volvo SUV made from Legos. We thought this was pretty cool.

Our first night in Vail we went out to dinner and then had some dessert at a resturant with an outdoor patio and live music. Anderson, our music man, of course loved the music, but he loved finishing off this dessert even more!

We made a pit stop at the candy store in Breckenridge. Anderson stuffed his mouth full of Sour Patch kids. Yum! Yum!

"What do you mean "all gone?" I know there is more in there. I will check for my self."
